cell reception from cotopaxi´s summit?

October 19, 2008 · 9 Comments

For the first time in 6 weeks (or, let´s be honest, 3 months) I don´t know what Liz is up to. She went off this weekend with five other volunteers to climb Cotopaxi–an (active??) volcano that reaches 5897 meters. Sophia and I, call us less adventurous or perhaps more attached to our lives, decided to visit Quito this weekend with our German roommates. At around midnight Liz started the 6-hour ascent to the top of the volcano; we were dancing salsa. Since Liz hasn´t been able to call us yet (cingular isn´t that good) we have no idea if she made it to the top with all her limbs in tact. Hopefully she will soon let us all know how her adventure went…I know I´m curious.

Sounds very invigorating. I, too hope she made it with limbs intact. Had a visit from both Natalie and Hannah this week, which was truly lovely.

Sounds like you you ladies are having a great time. I see that some things never change like Liz losing stuff. Hanna stopped by and gave me your blog address so I figured I would look in on you. Keep on going and keep an eye out for one another.

dear liz, Angela has just taught me how to get through to this new way of communication, which has been hell getting to you. I read all your news and was completely staggard to read of your detail description and cannot believe that you went right through to the end result. You will have amazing stories to tell your grandchildren who will think of you of the bravest person they know. I thionk you should wear extra padding when you go to town as it appears to be a dangerous expedition in the cab.
Gertrude is almost trained (dog) and as loveable as ever, and of course is very good company for me. She also knows that I am the boss and we quite often come to an a aggreement when she is in a stubborn mood. As for me I have more energy for the first time in nearlly two years, and feel much better now the RD is finished and I hope for good. Selling my home has become more difficult due to the finacial situation with few buyers but I am hopefull that my luck will change so that I can fullfil my dream to live by the sea in tranquill retirement. I HAVE not seen much of Helly and Tina except by email and will be going out with Luke de Santos plus his friends for trick and treating. Do you remember when we used to go tick and treating – such fun. Will you be celebrating halloween on Friday with Sophia and Adriana – Give them my love and of course I wish you all well. Bye for now and lots of love to you – Vali and Gertrude (I hope this gets to you not like the card I sent to you by post last week and left it in the post office without a stamp and unsealed. I will retrieve it tomorrow when I go and collect my pension. I would have liked to put a little somthing in with it but I am not sure of the post getting to you.
